About AP EAMCET Exam

Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test, commonly called as EAMCET, is an entrance examination required for admission to some engineering and medical colleges in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, India. Many other colleges offering graduation courses like BDS, B.Pharm., BSc., Pharm.D., B.E, B. Tech, etc. require qualification in this exam. The coaching industry for the EAMCET is estimated at nearly Rs. 50 billion (approximately $110 million) a year.

Presently the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada conducts AP EAMCET examination on behalf of APSCHE. This is the entrance exam for engineering ('E' category) and medicine ('AM' category: Agriculture and Medicine). The results are declared over 13 or 14 days every year making the counseling and admission process smooth.In 2007, around 185,000 students took the Engineering stream and around 90,000 students in the Medical & Agricultural stream.

On behalf of APSCHE, 2009 onwards 25% weightage is being given to 10+2 results. The rank will be based on 75% EAMCET marks and 25% intermediate marks (ICSE, CBSE or INTERMEDIATE). Around 311,355 students in Engineering and 65,357 students in Medicine appeared in EAMCET 2009.

Within the short span of the formation of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK), the University has conducted the ECET (Engineering Common Entrance Test for Diploma Holders) for the consecutive three years successfully for the undivided Andhra Pradesh State, with no efforts left each year in terms of raising the quality.

The innovative examination pattern of the University (JNTUK), introduction of technology in the evaluation process, declaration of results as per deadlines facilitates the APEAMCET T-2018 aspirants to write the hassle-free entrance test. Furthermore, JNTUK decides to host the OMR answer sheets in the University Website at the time of ‘Ranks declaration’ for more transparency.

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada, Kakinada, established in the year 2008, has a renowned history. Founded in 1946 as Government College of Engineering, which spread over 110 acres, became a part of JNTU, Hyderabad in the year 1972 and transformed into a full fledged State Government funded University in 2008. It is the second biggest Technological University in India, having 273 Engineering Colleges affiliated to it.

Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) has entrusted the task of conducting the prestigious Entrance Examination of the State "AP EAMCET" to JNTUK for the first time after reorganization of the State of Andhra Pradesh
