JEE Main 2018 Introduction

JEE Main has two papers, Paper-1 and Paper-2. Candidates may opt for either or both of them. Both papers contain multiple choice questions. Paper 1 is for admission to B.E./B.Tech courses and is conducted in both online and offline modes. Paper 2 is for admission in B.Arch and B.Planning courses and is conducted offline only.

JEE Main, unlike JEE Advanced, has a fixed exam structure and is not subject to change every year. Paper-1 is of three hours duration and consists of thirty multiple-choice (single-correct) questions in each of the three subjects (physics, chemistry, and maths). There is negative marking for incorrect answers. 4 marks are awarded for correct answers and 1 mark is deducted for incorrect answers.

From 2013 to 2016, the marks obtained in the class XII school board examination used to be accorded a 40% weightage in deciding the JEE Main all India ranks.

JEE Main 2018 Important Dates

JEE Main 2018 Calendar of events consists of Important dates for Online Registration, Payment of fees via Online mode, Admit card download, Exam dates (8th April 2018 offline, 15th & 16th April 2018 online), Result date for Paper 1 and 2, All India Rank declaration, Rank Card availability etc.

The Joint Entrance Examination is the National level Engineering Entrance Exam for BE/B.Tech & B.Arch/B. Plan Courses. JEE Main 2018 Eligibility Criteria

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct the JEE Main 2018 exam in both online and offline mode. The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2018 is also the qualifying test for JEE Advanced 2018. JEE Advanced 2018 gives aspirants a platform to seek admission into seats available in 23 Indian Institute of Technology's (IITs). Candidates who have passed or are appearing for Class 12 or equivalent board exams can apply for JEE Main 2018. JEE Main 2018 admit card will be available tentatively from the 2nd week of March and the result will be declared on April 30.

JEE Main is a national level engineering entrance exam conducted for admissions to UG engineering courses offered in 31 NITs, 23 IITs and 23 CFTIs. JEE Main 2018 is conducted by CBSE via online and offline modes for admission in NITs (National Institute of Technology), IIITs (Indian Institute of Information Technology), IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) and other (CFTs) Centrally Funded Technically Institutions across India. JEE Main 2018 Application Form

JEE Main 2018 examination will be conducted on 8th April, 2018 (Pen and Paper based) and 15th and 16th April, 2018 (Computer based) for aspiring Engineering candidates. JEE Main website has released the application form as early as 1st December, 2017 and interested candidates can go to JEE Main website to fill the form and submit the same before 1st January, 2018. Please note that application forms will be accepted only after fee payment (last date for payment - 2nd January, 2018).

JEE Main 2018 application form will be available Online. And candidates must fill the form online and submit the same, no other mode is accepted.

JEE Main 2018 Time Table

The Offline examination for Paper 1 (B. E./B. Tech.) Physics, Chemistry ,Mathematics and for Paper 2(B. Arch./B. Planning.) Mathematics Part I, Aptitude Test – Part II & Drawing Test Part III will be held on 8th April for the duration of 3 hours in two shifts from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and 2 pm to 5 pm respectively.

Online examination only for Paper 1 (B. E./B. Tech.)physics, chemistry and mathematics will be conducted on 15th and 16th April for the duration of 3 hours in two shifts. i.e, First shift 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and (second shift 2 pm to 5 pm only if required).

JEE Main 2018 Exam Pattern

JEE Main 2018 Exam pattern for Paper 1 and Paper 2 includes Mode of Examination(Offline and Online), Subjects for Paper 1 and Paper 2, duration of exam, No of questions, Total Marks, Negative Marking scheme (-1), Type of questions and Syllabus.

Candidates seeking admission to B.E/B.Tech take up JEE Main which will be conducted on 8th April 2018, (Offline), 15th &16th April 2018,(Online) in two shifts. JEE Main entrance exam consists of Paper 1 and Paper 2. JEE Main aspirants can take up exam either in Online mode or Offline mode. Paper 1 is for admission to B.Tech courses and paper 2 is for admission to architecture courses. It is completely candidate's choice to opt for Paper 1 exam or paper 2 exam or both the exam. Exam duration will be 03 hours for each paper.

JEE Main 2018 Exam Centers

JEE Main 2018 Exam centres for Online and Offline exams is based on State wise and City wise, for the current year examination is held in 258 Exam centers. Candidates can choose their choice exam centers for both modes of exam.

If the candidate opting for Paper-I in the city where the examination is conducted only in computer based mode but also wants to appear in Paper-II, he/she must select four other centre cities of pen and paper mode of examination for Paper-II.

If the number of candidates for Computer based examination is less than 50 in a particular city on a particular date then all such candidates will be allotted last day of the computer based examination in the same city. Efforts are made to allot candidates city of Pen & Paper based examination as per their choice in the application form. But in some exceptional circumstances, a different city in nearby area will be allotted.

JEE Main 2018 Answer keys

CBSE will release the official JEE Main Answer Key on April 24, 2018. 27th April 2018 is the last date to check JEE Main 2018 answer keys. Candidates who had appeared for the exam on April 8, 15 & 16, can access the JEE Main answer key 2018 of Paper 1 in online mode. The answer key of JEE Main 2018 for Paper 2 will, however, be released by CBSE in online mode in the month of May.

Candidates who disagree with any of the answers given in JEE Main answer key can challenge the same before April 27th 2018 by submitting an application form and specified fees to CBSE along with proof of the same. The decision of CBSE will be final regarding the final answer key of JEE Main 2018.

JEE Main 2018 Cutoff

JEE Main 2018 cutoff is the minimum score necessary to clear the examination. JEE Main 2018 exam will be held in the month of April, 2018. Various NITs, IIITs, CFTIs will participate in JEE Main providing admissions to the aspiring candidates, JAB will announce the cut off mark after the announcement of result.

JEE Main 2018 cutoff will be given minimum rank/score that candidate is eligible for further process and if the candidates fails to reach the required cut off he/she will not be eligible to participate in counselling and further process.

JEE Main 2018 Results

JEE main 2018 Results will be announced on 30th April 2018 and the official Answer keys for both online and offline exams will be released on 24th April, 2018. According to CBSE, a total of 2,16,756 candidates appeared for the JEE Main online exam conducted in 247 cities across India and abroad. The examination was conducted under the supervision of the Chairperson, Secretary, Executive Director (JAB) and the team of other officials of CBSE.The JEE rank will be declared as All India rank and All India category rank. JEE Main All India ranks are used for admissions in NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, SFIs and Others, while other ranks are just for information purposes.

The board will not dispatch the score\rank to the candidate, so the candidate should download their score\rank card from the JEE Main official website.

  3. Once the details are submitted, JEE Main 2018 results will be displayed.

JEE Main 2018 Counselling

JoSSA is the conducting body for JEE Main Counselling 2018. The schedule for Counselling, Procedure including Online Registration, Number of rounds, Online choice filling and Locking.

Candidates who will qualify JEE Main Exam are eligible to attend the counselling process. The counselling will be done through online in seven rounds. JoSAA will conduct counselling for admission to 97 participating Institutions which includes IITs, ISM, NITs, , NSITs and other CFTIs. JoSSA counselling will be started after the announcement of JEE Main exam.

JEE Main 2018 Reservation Criteria

The JEE (Main) secretariat/CBSE is an examination conducting body and does not participate in seat allocation or counselling process. After declaration of result the data is handed over to SEAT ALLOCATION BOARD or the concerned state government/institute for Seat Allocation Process and admission procedure. The total number of seats available in the institutions and reservation criteria followed by the institutions depends solely on the participating institutions and the concerned state government, JEE Main secretariat/CBSE have no say in this regard.

As per the rules of Indian Government, reservation benefits can be claimed by certain categories. Reservation can be based on candidate caste/gender/disability or any other quota prescribed by the government.

The reservation criteria of JEE Main 2018 also include home state and other state quota through which admissions are offered. Please note that candidates falling under JEE Main 2018 reservation criteria will have to produce necessary documents/certificates to strengthen their claim.

JEE Main 2018 Seat Allotment

Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will conduct the JEE Main 2018 counselling and seat allotment for all the qualified candidate. Seat allotment will be on the basis of their merit, choice of filling and availability of seats. First JoSAA will allot the seats to candidates in two mock rounds which will help them to know the seats, they could be allotted on the basis of their choice filling in JEE Main.
