KCET 2018 Introduction

KCET 2018 (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) is a state level entrance test conducted by Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) for admission to various undergraduate programmes such as Engineering, Architecture, Pharmacy, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Farm Science courses etc. Through this exam candidates will get seat in various colleges/institutions(both government and private) across Karnataka. The first KCET was started in the year 1984 and previous year more than 1.8 lakh candidates were taken test for 47,000+ seats in around 220 colleges across Karnataka.

KCET 2018 Important Dates

The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has announced the calendar of events for KCET 2018. According to the official announcement, the KCET 2018 exam will be conducted on April 18th and 19th, and Kannada language test will be conducted on April 20th, 2018. KCET 2018 Eligibility Criteria

The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) determines the eligibility criteria of KCET 2018 for candidates who aspire to sit for Karnataka CET 2018. The 2018 KCET eligibility criteria includes the requirements regarding the citizenship, qualifying exam, qualifying marks, subject combination, category, reservation etc. All candidates aspiring to take 2018 CET should meet all the eligibility criteria of CET. The KCET eligibility criteria for applying to the test is different from the eligibility criteria for admissions to the colleges. The Eligibility criteria for the various categories and streams is as follows.

Nationality: Only Indian nationals can appear in KCET 2018.

KCET 2018 Application Form

The CET 2018 Application Form has been released on the kea website kea.kar.nic.in on the 1st of February 2018. The form is available for till 26th February 2018(Extended till 22nd March 2018 upto to 5:30 pm). After payment of fees to the bank by 28th February 2018 (Extended till 22nd March 2018(during banking hours)) the Hall ticket can be downloaded from 10th February 2018.

KCET 2018 Time Table

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has announced the time table for KCET 2018. The exam will be conducted on April 2018. The Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology tests will be held on 18th and 19th April 2018 or 60 marks and the Kannada Language Test will be held on 20 April 2018 for 50 marks in Bengaluru for both Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannada candidates. KCET 2018 will be held in two shifts, 10.30 am to 11.50 pm and 2.30 pm to 3.50 pm.

KCET 2018 Exam Centres

The KCET 2018 Exam will be held at 53 exam centres across Karnataka and the Kannada Language test will be conducted for both Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates, only in Bangalore. The candidates appearing for KCET 2018 are advised to carefully select the venue and be present well ahead of time so as to avoid any unnecessary trouble. There will be sufficient breaks between the exams. The students appearing for KCET 2018 exam are advised to approach the help desks available at each of the exam centres.

Note: The Kannada Language Test of KCET 2018 will be held only at Bangalore.

KCET 2018 Admit Card/Hall Ticket

The Karnataka Education Authority (KEA) has notified that the KCET Hall Ticket/Admit Card 2018 will be available for download on KEA website kea.kar.nic.in from 6th April, 2018 to 15th April, 2018. The candidates who have successfully submitted their applications can download the KCET 2018 Admit Card/Hall Ticket by logging into KEA website using the Date of Birth and the application number generated at the time of application. The admit card contain details about candidates such as name and roll number, address of the exam centre, exam date and timing and exam day guidelines etc.

KCET 2018 Syllabus

The KCET Syllabus 2018 is the same as 1st and 2nd PUC Syllabus prescribed by the Department of Pre-University Education of Karnataka State. The KCET 2018 Syllabus for Engineering course comprises of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM). The KEA Board will set the KCET 2018 question paper according to the syllabus prescribed by the Department of Pre-University Education of Karnataka State and the complete KCET 2018 latest syllabus is given below.

  • The aspirants for Medical , Dental or Ayush seats must and should qualify the NEET Exam conducted by the CBSE Board, New Delhi.
  • The aspirants for Architecture courses must compulsorily appear for the NATA or JEE Paper-2 Examination.

KCET 2018 Answer Key

KCET 2018 Provisional and Final Answer Keys

The KCET 2018 exam will be conducted on April 18th and 19th, and answer key for the KCET 2018 exam will be released in the 1st week of May 2018 tentatively online . The link to the official KCET answer key 2018 will be published here as soon as it is released by KEA.

The Karnataka Education Authority (KEA) will release the answer key twice as follows:

  • The Provisional Answer Keys: The Candidates can go through the Answer Keys and in case of any challenges, the candidates can submit their response and claim it through mail or post to KEA Board.
  • The Final Master Answer Keys: which will be the final decision of the Board and it cannot be changed.
  • The Candidates can compare their answers as marked in OMR sheets against the answers displayed in official KCET answer key 2018 to calculate their score. The KEA will release the KCET 2018 Answer keys separately for each subjects and each sets of paper (each exam given in 16 sets of paper like A1, A2…).

KCET 2018 Results

KEA will declare KCET 2018 results in the last week of May 2018. Candidates who had appeared for the KCET 2018 exam are required to check their results via online mode by entering their Registration Number on the official KEA website. Only qualifying students can check their result. KCET 2018 results will have 2 parts mainly, of which one part displays the Rank obtained by the candidate in different discipline and the second part displays the marks/scores obtained in respective subjects opted by the candidates. Eligible candidates can avail admission in the field of Architecture, Engineering, Pharmacy, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, etc.

Important points of KCET 2018 Result:

  • Candidates should verify the marks obtained on the rank card carefully. If candidates note any discrepancies then it must submit it to KEA immediately for the allotment of new rank.
  • Candidates whose results will be withheld against the want of qualifying examination marks, should submit a photocopy of their Q.E. marks card either in person or through Speed Post to the KEA and the ranks in respect of such candidates will be published subsequently.

KCET 2018 Cutoff

The KCET 2018 (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) is the entrance exam conducted for students who are seeking admission into courses related to Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Agriculture and Dentistry. KCET 2018 Counselling

The KCET Counselling 2018 will be conducted in 2nd week of June 2018 tentatively after announcement of KCET 2018 results, which will be released in 4th week of May 2018. KCET 2018 exam is conducted for the admission of students in various undergraduate programmes such as Engineering, Architecture, Pharmacy, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Farm Science courses etc. Seats allocation is done in 2-3 rounds (first round, second round and casual round). Candidates must know that their admission will be confirmed only after the payment of fees.

The KCET 2018 Counselling process consist of both offline and online mode,

  • Qualified students will be called for KCET 2018 counselling followed by document verification and seat allotment process. Candidates must carry their original documents with the multiple attested photocopies during verification.
  • Candidates must go through option entry, where they can select courses and institutions according to their priority. After counselling the seats are allotted according to their prioritized institutions in online mode.

KCET 2018 Seat Allotment

All candidates taking up the KCET 2018 exam must be aware of the counselling result which will be uploaded by the Karnataka Education Authority(KEA) in the month of June for the 1st round. The 2nd Round result will be announced in July, after that the candidates should complete the admission process. KEA will issue the KCET 2018 College Allotment according to the ranks and seats available. The Karnataka Examinations Authority will also conduct a Mock Seat Allotment round for the benefit of all the eligible candidates.

  • Candidates will be alloted seats based on their ranking according to the merit and the college and courses during counselling of KCET 2018.
  • KCET 2018 seat allotment will be conducted in two or more rounds.
  • Candidates need to log in to download their seat allotment letter.
  • Candidates who are qualified should visit the allotted institute for verification copy, Unique Secret Keyword and the print out of the seat allotment letter.

KCET 2018 Reservation Criteria

KEA – the authority on KCET reserves certain seats for the candidates falling in the various categories as per the KCET 2018 reservation criteria. The seats are reserved for special categories candidates including Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), physically disabled, defence categories etc. Candidates while filling the KCET application form will have to mention their reservation category. The candidates also need to make sure that they have a valid certificate and or documents that support their claim. These indentures will be required at the time of document verification, during the KCET counseling.
